ELECTRONIC CAR WORKSHOP

Course Information

Participants will be introduced to basic electronics; they will learn about circuits, switches and electronic components. This workshop allows participants to learn electronics concepts in a fun and creative manner, and how to solder components onto a printed circuit board. They will also understand how to link up Light Dependent Resistors such that the cars will follow along a black line. Creating a track on the floor, participants will test out their cars to check if the circuits are closed. To hype up the excitement, a competition will be conducted and the fastest car wins.

**Each participant will take home a car**

  1. Basic introduction to electronic components like switches, LEDs, resistors, and light dependent resistors.
  2. Hands-on learning through soldering components onto a printed circuit board and assembling up an electronic car.
  3. Series and parallel circuit, identify electronic components and how they function in a circuit
  4. Mechanisms behind a follow-the-line car.
Technology

Participants will learn about the applications of driverless and electric cars. They will understand how light dependent resistors work and the car moves along a black line.

STEM ELEMENTS

Soldering is very tough at first, but the trainer was always very patient and encouraging. Slowly I mastered the technique of soldering. Very satisfied when I saw my car work!

Student, Bukit Batok Secondary School
